Dr. Light's Laboratory

Where Rock became Mega Man.

Dr. Light's Laboratory is the robotics research facility where Dr. Light built Rock and Roll, as well as the six industrial robots (Cut Man, Guts Man, Ice Man, Bomb Man, Fire Man, and Elec Man) entirely on his own before Dr. Wily's betrayal. It is also where Light rebuilt Rock into Mega Man to stop Wily after the theft of all six robots. The laboratory serves as a base of operations for Mega Man's missions against Wily's forces.

Lore & Background

Dr. Light, a brilliant robotics scientist, built the first advanced prototype, Proto Man, alone. However, Proto Man's unstable core caused him to go haywire and flee. Later, Dr. Light built Rock and Roll, advanced robots with personalities, along with the six industrial robots (Cut Man, Guts Man, Ice Man, Bomb Man, Fire Man, and Elec Man) without any assistance. After Dr. Wily betrayed Light, reprogrammed, and stole all six robots, he attempted to reprogram Rock and Roll. Rock volunteered to be rebuilt into Mega Man to stop Wily. Light then converted Rock into Mega Man, who protects the world from Wily's forces and other evil. Throughout the series, Light builds robots and inventions to help humanity from this laboratory.

In Their Own Story

The laboratory was quiet after the chaos. Dr. Light looked at the empty charging stations where Ice Man, Guts Man, and Cut Man once stood. Now they served Wily. But Rock and Roll were safe. Light began the work that would change everything: rebuilding Rock into Mega Man, a fighting robot to protect the world.

Reader's Guide

The laboratory is the origin point for Mega Man's transformation. It is where Dr. Light built the original industrial robots and later rebuilt Rock into Mega Man. The facility is also home to Roll, who assists Mega Man on missions, and Rush, Mega Man's robot dog. Dr. Light's assistant, known as "Doc," works there with a flexible grabber arm to produce items. Eddie, a suitcase on legs, delivers Energy Cans (E-Tanks) to Mega Man from this base when he is critically low on energy. The laboratory is not a combat stage; it is a safe haven for repairs and preparation.
