Elite Federation officers lead the charge against Earthnoid supremacy in UC 0088.
The Earth Federation Space Force (EFSF) represents the organized military authority tasked with suppressing insurrections within the Universal Century timeline. Established as the primary defense force, the EFSF assembled Task Force Alpha to counter a rebellion of elite officers stationed at the asteroid fortress Pezun. This group, known as the New Desides, sought to uphold the Titans' ideology of Earthnoid supremacy. The conflict occurred between the final phase of Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam and the early stages of Gundam ZZ in UC 0088. Unlike typical series, this story features a realistic, technical style where mobile suits are treated as military weapons rather than fantastical heroes. Veteran writer Masaya Takahashi crafted an intricate plot focusing on older characters and smaller-scale operations.

Lore & Background
The conflict began when EFSF officers at Pezun rebelled, self-claiming as New Desides. In response, the EFSF assembled Task Force Alpha, a specialized force comprising veterans from the EFSF, AEUG, and Karaba. They were equipped with advanced mobile suits, including the MSA-0011 S Gundam, which featured an artificial intelligence named ALICE (Advanced Logistic and Inconsequence Cognizing Equipment). The force consisted of four Salamis Kai cruisers and the flagship Pegasus III. A week after initial contact, fleet commander Brian Aeno defected to the rebels after being approached days prior. Task Force Alpha was forced to escape just before the asteroid Pezun exploded due to a nuclear self-destruct triggered by retreating rebel forces.
In Their Own Story
Task Forces Alpha and Beta launched Operation Eagle Falls, an all-out assault on Ayers City lasting 11 days. The New Desides deployed a logic bomb that paralyzed Alpha's mobile suits after spies cracked their software, forcing the EFSF to counter the programming before retreating due to high casualties. During the fighting, rebel leader Brave Cod went on a rampage, destroying Task Force Alpha's three-man FAZZ squad before being killed by EFSF pilot Ryu Roots and his Ex-S Gundam. As the city surrendered, Mayor Kaiser Pinefield committed suicide upon learning of Cod's death. The New Desides remnants rendezvoused with Aeno's fleet under Master strategist Tosh Cray, who planned to hijack the relay station Penta to raid the Federation Senate at Dakar.
